Audi released its January sales results for the US market today. According to the official figures, the German carmaker managed to shift 7,812 cars and SUV, representing a 20 % increase from January 2010. The rise also lead to Audi’s highest ever result for the month, as the previous record dates back to 2010, when 6.510 cars were sold.

What’s more, Audi reports that sales of five of its models (the Audi A3, Audi A8, Audi Q5, Audi Q7 and the Audi R8) saw increases of over 50%. Even that result pales in comparison to the Audi A8, which saw demand increase by a staggering 765.4% from last year, as consumer response to the carmaker’s most advanced model ever built was favorable.

The Audi A3 managed to sell 52.8% better last month than it did in the same period of last year, largely due to strong demand for the Audi A3 TDI clean diesel model, which was named Green Car of the Year in 2010. The Q5 crossover kept its momentum, as sales climbed 50.9%, while the full-sized luxury crossover got nearly 60% more orders than compared to January 2010.

The company’s sales leader in America remains the A4, of which 2,483 units were shifted last month, 10.1% less than the 2,763 sold in January 2010. A total of 79 US customers received brand new R8 sportscars, 83.7% more than a year ago, but demand for the TT coupe and cabrio dropped almost 6% to 97 units.
